Bhagwan Mahavir Sanctuary Bhagwan Mahavir Sanctuary in Molem is the largest wild life preserve in Goa, Covering the land area of 240 sq. kms. This Wildlife sanctuary has been blessed with incredible natural beauty. There are breathtaking Flora and Fauna species in the Bhagwan Mahavir Sanctuary, which attract thousands of visitors all year round.
Besides, it is also a bird watchers paradise as there are some very rarely found species of birds can also be seen.

Location: Bhagwan Mahaveer Sanctuary is located in the Western Ghats of South India, along the eastern border of Goa, in Sanguem taluk near the town of Molem that is 57 kilometers east of Panaji. It is situated between 15°15"30' to 15°29"30' N and 74°10"15' to 74°20"15' E.

History: Covering the area of 107 square kilometers, Bhagwan Mahavir Sanctuary was initially known as Mollem Game Sanctuary. It got recognition as wildlife sanctuary in 1969 and renamed as Bhagwan Mahavir Sanctuary. Then in 1978, it was officially notified as Mollem National Park.

Flora & Fauna: Bhagwan Mahavir Sanctuary has been blessed with incredible Flora and Fauna. Fauna - It is home to numerous species of animals and birds. The animals that you can get to see here include - Leopards, Spotted Deer, Malayan Giant Squirrels, Jungle Cats, Cobras, Pythons and many other species of reptiles. It is also bird watchers paradise housing about 200 species of birds such as - Black Woodpecker, the Malabar Pied Hornbill, Fairy Blue Bird, Kingfishers, Paradise Fly Catcher, Drongo, Barbets, Wag tails and Great Indian Horn Bill. Flora - the sanctuary is home to Tropical evergreen forest, which includes numerous species of Flora.

Attractions: Although, Bhagwan Mahavir Sanctuary is mainly famous for its wide range of flora & fauna, there are many other wonderful attractions too including - Dudhsagar Falls, Devils Canyon, Tambdi Falls and Sunset Point. These are the worth visiting places of Bhagwan Mahavir Sanctuary, offering an amazing experience. Best Time to visit: this sanctuary remains open all year round; still the best time to visit this place is October to March

How to Reach: You can easily reach Goa by all three major resources including Rail - the closest railway station is Colem, which is just 6 km from the Sanctuary. Air - the closest airport to the Sanctuary is Dabolim that is 80 KM. Road - there are regular buses of the Kadamba Transport Corporation running from Kadama bus station and, Panaji to the sanctuary.
